NEBRASKA FIREFIGHTERS MUSEUM & EDUCATION CENTER
THE MUSEUM WILL BE CLOSED THURSDAY MARCH 19th due to Training. We are sorry for this inconvenience. We will resume our normal hours on Friday March 20th.
Our mission is to preserve Nebraska’s firefighting heritage, to foster public understanding of the impact and benefit of firefighting in regard to saving lives and possessions, to educate individuals about fire prevention and fire safety, and to memorialize Nebraska firefighters.
The Past is Coming Alive Thanks to Humanities Nebraska!
Join us March 22nd at 2 pm as Dr. Robert Ramsay Livingston of Plattsmouth, one of the outstanding pioneer figures in Nebraska medicine, tells his story at the Nebraska Firefighters Museum for FREE.
Livingston began practicing medicine in Plattsmouth in 1859, captained the First Nebraska Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War, helped organize the Nebraska State Medical Society and was one of the first delegates from Nebraska to the American Medical Association. Among varied accomplishments, he served as Chief Surgeon of the Burlington Railroad in Nebraska, Mayor of Plattsmouth, and President of the Faculty of the Omaha Medical College.
The program is great for all ages as Schleicher presents it as living history by portraying Dr. Livingston in period attire.
