nebraska firefighters museum & education center
now open for business

KEARNEY (August 18, 2009) -- KEARNEY, Neb. – As of Friday, August 15th at 10:56 A.M., the Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center is now proudly open for business!

The museum at 2434 East 1st St. near the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument held its public “hose cutting” at 10:56 a.m. Friday. The unusual time for the ribbon cutting is because 10-56 is the emergency radio code for firefighters.      

The invocation was given by Pastor Tom Thompson, a volunteer firefighter from the Loomis Volunteer Fire Department. Lindsay Schluntz, Interim Director of the Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center, introduced the honored speakers for the event, including the City of Kearney Mayor Stan Clouse, Kearney Visitors Bureau Roger Jasnoch, Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters Association president George Teixeira, State Fire Marshal John Falgione, Nebraska Firefighters Association Chairman Norm Hoeft, and Nebraska Firefighters Association Board Member Bob Vogltance.....read the complete story

Fired Up For Ribbon Cutting and Open House at the Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center

KEARNEY (July 17, 2009) -- The Nebraska Firefighters Foundation is proud to announce the official opening of and ribbon cutting for the Nebraska Firefighters Museum &  Education Center will be held Friday, August 14th at 10:56 a.m. The unusual time is in reference to 10-56 being the dispatch radio code for Nebraska’s fire departments.

The media and public are welcome and are encouraged to attend the event.

Lindsay Schluntz, Executive Coordinator of the Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center, will emcee the celebration of the opening of the facility, and will introduce a number of distinguished guests who will be scheduled to speak at the event.....read the complete story
