(August 18, 2009) --
KEARNEY, Neb. –
As of
Friday, August 15th at 10:56
A.M., the Nebraska Firefighters Museum &
Education Center is now proudly open for
business!
The museum
at 2434 East 1st St. near the Great
Platte River Road Archway Monument held
its public “hose cutting” at 10:56 a.m.

cutting is because 10-56 is the
emergency radio code for firefighters.

The
invocation was given by Pastor Tom
Thompson, a volunteer firefighter from
the Loomis Volunteer Fire Department.
Lindsay Schluntz, Interim Director of
the Nebraska Firefighters Museum &
Education Center, introduced the honored
speakers for the event, including the
City of Kearney Mayor Stan Clouse,
Kearney Visitors Bureau Roger Jasnoch,
Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters
Association president George Teixeira,
