In
order to fulfill our mission and in preparation
for
future exhibit designs and rotating department temporary displays in the
Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center, the
Nebraska Firefighters Foundation is now requesting donations of
historical material from individuals and Nebraska fire departments!
We are very excited about
representing the history of Nebraska firefighting through images,
artifacts, badges/patches and in exhibits’ texts. In order to help us
tell your story, please contact us with the following:
-
Information regarding the year your department was
established, as well as any major events in its history (i.e. fires
fought, etc.) since that time.
-
Pictures representing your department (group
pictures around equipment or in front of your fire house; images of
your fire department fighting fires; training pictures; etc.) The
more photos we receive, the more selections we will have to produce
the best exhibits possible. These photos will be scanned and the
originals will be returned to your collection.
-
Badges/patches from your department to be displayed
on our “Wall of Honor.”
-
Thorough descriptions & photographs of the artifacts
(especially large trucks & equipment, but also including banners,
hats, helmets, uniforms, etc.) that are available to be donated to
the Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center. These artifacts
will help us tell the history of your department and the history of
firefighting in Nebraska as a whole. Please include in these
descriptions all information that you have regarding each item,
including dates, uses, historical applications, etc. Unless
otherwise arranged, all actual objects will become the property of
the Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center. However, you or
your department will be credited in the cutline for the donation.
Be assured that this
professionally run museum will make certain that objects donated will be
preserved in an environmentally friendly atmosphere, that your donations
will be utilized in such a way that museum visitors will have a greater
grasp of what Nebraska firefighters have faced through history and will
continue to contend with through the future, and that generations to
come will be educated by and will truly enjoy your donations.
All information, original
photos & artifact descriptions should be sent to the address below:
